The Surface Pro 5 rumors are heating up. Are you in the market for a new tablet/ultrabook combo? Well, the Surface 5 may be the right choice for you.
Find out everything you need to know about the Surface 5 today in our rumor roundup.

5) Surface Pro 5 Release Date

The Surface Pro 5 is expected to be released in Spring 2017.
Microsoft hasn’t been releasing the Surface Pro on an annual basis. Instead, they’ve been releasing them as needed without aligning themselves to a strict annual release schedule – which works out to a new Surface every 1.5 years or so.

In any case, the Surface Pro 4 was released almost exactly one year ago. Most rumors point to a spring 2017 release date from Microsoft. Anything outside of Q2 2017 would be considered a (mild) surprise.

4) Surface Pro 5 Pricing

The Surface Pro 5 is expected to cost pretty much the same as this last generation’s Surface Pro 4.
Expect the Pro 5 to start at $899 for the smallest storage version, increasing from there up to around $1200 (with the higher end models also having better processors).

3) An Upgraded Stylus

Microsoft recently filed a patent for a stylus with a rechargeable battery system (thanks to our friends at Patently Mobile for spotting that one). That patent describes a stylus with a magnetic charging dock. That dock would deliver juice into the Surface Pen, allowing users to recharge the stylus in a similar way to the iPad Pro (which is one of the few advantages the iPad Pro has over the Surface Pro)
The stylus would also attach itself to the Surface Dock.

2) What Are the Most Desired Features?

The Surface Pro 4 did okay on the market, but it didn’t sell quite as strongly as Microsoft had hoped. The Surface Pro 4 suffered from battery life problems and firmware issues, among other problems. That means there’s plenty of room for improvement. Here are some of the most desired features in the Surface community:
-Longer Battery Life: The Surface Pro 4 claimed to last for 9 hours of video playback. Testing revealed that it only lasted about 4.5 hours – if that – during video playback. We need better battery life on a professional tablet. It’s as simple as that.

-Better Screen: The Surface Pro 4 had a fantastic screen – better than most of its rivals. It had a 267 ppi with 2736 x 1824 resolution across its 12.3-inch screen. Microsoft will want to continue that display dominance on the Surface Pro 4. Some rumors point towards a 4K (3840x resolution) screen, which would take the Surface from a “nice display” to a “killer feature”.
-USB-C: USB-C has already been used on the Chromebook Pixel and the MacBook. It’s time for the Surface Pro 5 to step up to the plate. One single USB 3.0 port isn’t going to cut it any more. Microsoft has already implemented the new USB-C port in its Lumia phones. It’s time to see the same on the Surface Pro lineup.

1) Surface Pro 5 Rumored Tech Specs

Since the release date is still so far away, we know virtually nothing about the device and its tech specs. However, some of the rumored tech specs include:
-16GB RAM
-2K and 4K display variants
-Surface Pen integration
-Run Windows Redstone 2 (which is also rumored to be released in Spring 2017)
-8GB of RAM (same as the Surface Pro 4 – it’s hard to see Microsoft bumping it up to 16GB, but we may see 12GB)
-2.4GHz Intel Core i5 CPU
-256MB Intel HD Graphics
