Grand Theft Auto V is finally available on PC. One of the biggest advantages of PC gaming these days is that you can run games in 60 fps 4K.
Running a game in 60 fps 4K is like the day you get a new contact lens prescription. It’s like the first time you heard The Beatles. It’s a jaw-dropping experience that particularly suits the hectic cities and long distances of Los Santos.
Rockstar has finally revealed what kind of PC hardware you’ll need to run Grand Theft Auto V in ultra HD in 60 frames per second. And it’s probably not quite as expensive as you may have thought:
“To run the game on a 4K display at 30fps,” says Kevin Hoare, president of Rockstar Toronto, “you’ll need at minimum an AMD HD 7870 or Nvidia GTX 760 with 2GB of VRAM.” As for the 4K at 60 frames-per-second, that’ll require a “high-end SLI or Crossfire setup.”
That information comes after PC Gamer reached out to developer Rockstar.

Rockstar Wants All PC Gamers to Enjoy Their Game

Grand Theft Auto IV was one of the most poorly-optimized games to ever be released on PC. It took a behemoth of a rig to run. And even today, the game still slows down on mid-range rigs nearly 6 years after its release.

GTA V is taking a different approach. Rockstar wants as many PC gamers to play the game as possible.
Part of the reason why GTA V take so long to come out on PC was that developers were making every graphic setting scalable. Whether you have a low-end PC or a top-of-the-line rig, you’ll be able to find the perfect set of customizable graphics settings that works for you.
The recommended hardware requirements are based on playing the game at a smooth 60 frames per second at 1080p. In that case, the game only requires an Nvidia GTX 660 or AMD HD7870 with 2GB of RAM.
GTA V will be released on PC on April 14, 2015.
