The GeForce GTX 1070 may be the best graphics card ever released. Already hyped before its launch, the GTX 1070 has now gone through countless reviews and benchmarks – all of which have led to some impressive scores.
The first and most important thing you need to know about the 1070 is that it’s faster than the Titan X at less than half the price.
It’s also being praised for its excellent 1440p performance – something that more and more PC gamers are taking advantage of.
The 1070 card is similar to previous “70” cards in the GeForce lineup. They’re slightly off-quality versions of the “80” cards. In the case of the 1070, it’s not quite as fast as the 1080. However, it beats the GTX 980 Ti, the GTX Titan X, the R9 Fury X, and every other single-GPU solution currently on the market.

Pricier Founders Edition Available

There’s also a “Founders Edition” of the 1070 available. That edition costs a $100 premium. It’s a fancy name for the reference design, including a blower fan and a metal blackplate. The idea is that the Founders Edition cards will remain available as long as Nvidia continues to sell GTX 1070/1080 cards.
The main benefit of the FE is that you can get a blower fan, which may be a better option for smaller cases where airflow is restricted. Blower fans can also be helpful in SLI scenarios. Most people, however, won’t need to pay an extra $100 premium for the FE version.

1070 Blows Benchmark Scores Out of the Water

PC Gamer performed significant testing on the 1070 using their 4.2 GHz i7-5930K setup. After running 15 different in-game benchmarks on the card, they found that it performed better than the GTX Titan X at all levels. The only card better than the 1070 was the 1080 – which is to be expected. Here’s what the benchmarks looked like:

The cards aren’t expected to stay in stock very long, so they may be on back-order for the next few months. Get them while you can – because this is an early contender for the high-end graphics card of the year that comes with a competitive price tag.
