If you’re one of the users who have encountered the error, “Your connection was interrupted, A network change was detected, ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED”, then you’ve come to the right place as this post will give you suggestions on how to fix the problem.
The “Your connection was interrupted, A network change was detected,
ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED” error is usually encountered in Google Chrome browsers. But there are also cases when you can use the solutions we will be discussing below for similar issues in Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge as well as other browsers.
Before you start, make sure that you disable your VPN software and your antivirus program. The bunch of options below will help you fix the error which you can try on any browser.
Solution #1 – Check your Wi-Fi router
This is one of the basic things to do if you are using a Wi-Fi router to connect your PC to the internet. All you have to do is to check whether the router is working fine or not since there are cases when the Wi-Fi router creates problems that can lead to this error message. If it is not working as expected, you can restart your router and then check if the problem is fixed.
Solution #2 – Flush the DNS cache
Flushing the DNS cache may be just what you have to do. This technique is utilized by many users after some significant change in the network. To start, you have to open Command Prompt as admin and type in the following command:
ipconfig /flushdns
This process does not take long more than 2 seconds. After that, check if it works.
 Solution #3 – Reset Winsock
Winsock or Windows Socket is a technical specification that defines how Windows network software should access network services, particularly TCP/IP. But there are times when Winsock may get corrupted so as a result, you may not be able to connect to the internet. To fix it, you have to reset Winsock, just open the Command Prompt as admin and type the following command:
netsh winsock reset
Take note that if you are using ipv4, you have to type in nets hint ipv4 reset instead.
Solution #4 – Reset TCP/IP
Sometimes, all it takes to fix the problem is resetting the Internet Protocol V4 settings. For that, you need to access Command Prompt as admin again and type the command below.
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
Executing this command will reset all the registry values and settings for your TCP/IP. Once the command is executed, restart your PC.
Solution #5 – Check the LAN settings
Any wrong configuration of the proxy server can cause the error so you wouldn’t be able to connect to the internet at all. To fix this, open the Internet Options and then switch to the Connections tab and select LAN settings. And make sure that the highlighted option (Use a proxy server for your LAN (these settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) is NOT checked.

Solution #6 – Check if any browser extension is manipulating the proxy settings

If you are using any shared account service and you have an extension or two in your browser, there’s a possibility that one of the extension is controlling the proxy settings of your browser. So as a result, you can encounter problems such as this error if the extension fails to fetch any data from the root server.
In Google Chrome browser, you can check this from the Advanced Settings. If the extension is indeed controlling the proxy server, you must disable it and check whether your internet connection is back on or not.
Solution #7 – Try using another DNS server
If you’ve been having this problem for a long time now, you might want to consider changing your DNS server. In this situation, you can try to change your default DNS settings and then use another one. You can use the Google Public DNS, Open DNS, Yandex DNS, Comodo Secure DNS, etc.
If it didn’t work, you’ll just have to reset your browser or even uninstall and reinstall it.
