How to Get Rid of the Annoying Alert on Internet Explorer

What is this annoying alert?

Many users have recently reported about getting an alert after they’ve installed a Windows Update. Since the update, the alert has been constantly popping up whenever they use Internet Explorer. Here’s the full context of the alert:
“A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer. This program will open outside of Protected mode. Internet Explorer’s Protected mode helps protect your computer. If you do not trust this website, do not open this program.”

Solution #1 – Adjust your Internet Explorer’s Security Settings.
Step 1: Launch Internet Explorer and click the gear icon for Settings and click the Internet options.
Step 2: After that, go to the Security tab and click on the custom level button.
Step 3: Look for the option that is labeled as “Display mixed content” on the next screen. As you can see, it is set to Prompt by default so you have to change it to “Enable” and click the OK button to save the changes made.

Step 4: Click on the Apply and OK buttons that appears on the next window to save the changes permanently.
Solution #2 – Reset Internet Explorer settings.
The first solution above should work and remove the irritating error message. However, if the pop-up still appears then you may have to reset Internet Explorer. To do so, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Launch Internet Explorer and click the gear icon for Settings and click the Internet options.
Step 2: After that, go to the Advanced tab under the Internet options window and then click the Reset button twice to confirm the changes.
Step 3: Restart Internet Explorer and check if the annoying alert still appears.
