What is this annoying alert?

Many users have recently reported about getting an alert after they’ve installed a Windows Update. Since the update, the alert has been constantly popping up whenever they use Internet Explorer. Here’s the full context of the alert:
“A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer. This program will open outside of Protected mode. Internet Explorer’s Protected mode helps protect your computer. If you do not trust this website, do not open this program.”
So if you’re one the users who have encountered this error message, then you’ve come to the right place for this article will guide you in removing the pesky alert. The error message usually appears as a popup window right after you launch Internet Explorer. And in the popup window, you can see two buttons to either allow or block the program from running into your computer. If you think that by clicking the Don’t allow button will stop the alert from appearing, well sorry to break it to you but it won’t. On the other hand, if you click the Allow button, you can keep using the Internet Explorer. However, clicking the Allow button may be risky since you really wouldn’t know if the program that’s trying to run in your computer is legit or not, after all, fake alerts and software updates are rampant these days. So to be on the safe side, you can just get rid of the error message by following this guide.

How does this alert occur?

Every time your computer fails to detect a particular program to be a trusted one, then this pop-up will keep showing up since it’s preventing or blocking the suspicious program from running into your computer. And again, if you’re not sure whether to allow this program or not, then you can just hide it. To do so, follow the any of the available solutions below.
Solution #1 – Adjust your Internet Explorer’s Security Settings.
Step 1: Launch Internet Explorer and click the gear icon for Settings and click the Internet options.
Step 2: After that, go to the Security tab and click on the custom level button.
Step 3: Look for the option that is labeled as “Display mixed content” on the next screen. As you can see, it is set to Prompt by default so you have to change it to “Enable” and click the OK button to save the changes made.

Step 4: Click on the Apply and OK buttons that appears on the next window to save the changes permanently.
Solution #2 – Reset Internet Explorer settings.
The first solution above should work and remove the irritating error message. However, if the pop-up still appears then you may have to reset Internet Explorer. To do so, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Launch Internet Explorer and click the gear icon for Settings and click the Internet options.
Step 2: After that, go to the Advanced tab under the Internet options window and then click the Reset button twice to confirm the changes.
Step 3: Restart Internet Explorer and check if the annoying alert still appears.
