Want to control your PC games using the PS4 Controller, the DualShock 4? Here’s a quick and easy guide that will show you exactly how to do that.
First of all, it’s important to note that Sony has made PC compatibility a major goal of its DualShock 4 controllers. While the Xbox One controllers will supposedly be compatible with PC games at some point in the near future, they don’t currently work. That’s a big opportunity for Sony and it’s an opportunity they’ve chosen to run with.
Now here’s the bad news: you can’t just plug and play your PS4 controller. Instead, you’re going to have to follow these steps. But rest assured: it’s completely free and really easy – even if you’re an idiot with computers!
Step 1) Download something called DS4Tool from here: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DS4-To-XInput-Wrapper. A number of versions are available, but you’ll want to download the latest non-beta version.

Step 2) Extract the DS4Tool folder and open the Virtual Bus Driver folder, then find the ScpDriver.exe file. Double click it.
Step 3) This is where things get easy. Just click Install and wait for the installation process to complete.
Step 4) Connect your DualShock 4 controller to your PC using USB or, if you have a Bluetooth receiver, then you can connect it via Bluetooth. If you already connected your PS4 controller prior to downloading the DS4Tool software, then you should disconnect it and reconnect it.
Step 5) Go to the DS4Tool folder and look for the ScpServer.exe file. After launching that .exe, your PC should recognize the DualShock 4 controller. Most games will see the DS4 controller as an Xbox 360 controller, which is fine because they have virtually identical controls.
Obviously, you’re going to encounter some compatibility issues. There are some game-specific workarounds, but this method is actually surprisingly reliable.

Bluetooth PS4 controller connections aren’t too reliable. The software is from an unauthorized third party source, so it’s not perfect. However, USB connections are usually pretty good. If you’re having troubles connecting your DualShock 4 over Bluetooth, then switch to USB and that should fix your problems.
One annoying thing about this method is that you’ll need to launch the ScpServer.exe application every time you connect your PS4 controller. Another annoying thing is that there’s no gyroscope and accelerometer functionality. However, if you’re trying to play console-ish games on PC, this method is still way better than using the mouse and keyboard.
