What is Cloudfront? And how does it function?

Cloudfront, also known as “Amazon Cloudfront”, is a legitimate service just like Amazonaws. However, just like Amazonaws, Cloudfront was also found to be exploited by hackers to disseminate their malicious content. In other words, this program is being used by cyber crooks to spread banners, pop-ups, in-text links and commercial offers from its affiliated sites.
Cloudfront has several versions like “D2pezc1a2cl20m.cloudfront.net” and “D2ucfwpxlh3zh3.cloudfront.net”. When either of these versions is installed in your computer, you will be bombarded with tons of ads every time you browse the internet. Some of these ads can get really intrusive and pops up no matter what website you are visiting. Some of them could even redirect you to suspicious and unknown websites that may urge you to install some program or have you answer some survey online that will require you to provide personal data. What’s worse is that you could also get redirected to websites that display tech support scams – alerts that make you think your computer is infected with some malware and will pressure you into calling a fake tech support number.
How does Cloudfront spread online?
Cloudfront spreads the web via software bundles that are offered on free sharing sites. It is added as one of the optional components in a free software package and if you’re not careful, you could end up installing it along with other extra programs in the bundle. To avoid such occurrence, you must use the Advanced or Custom setup when installing such package.
