What is Deskgram Ads? And how does it function?

Deskgram is a dubious application that claims to upload photos to Instagram directly from your PC. It is presented as a desktop version of Instagram and claims it is a safe way to upload photos. However, when you try to use this program, it will bombard your browser with tons of advertisements which is why it is dubbed as “Deskgram Ads”. This is also the reason why security experts categorized it as an adware and PUP.
If you click on any content on this suspicious site, it will prompt a new tab URL which would redirect you to other dubious sites where you could find promotion about certain software or software update or even alerts that tells you your computer is infected with some virus. This is some of the things that make Deskgram Ads somewhat dangerous to users as it poses risks to the infected computer. In fact, in its Privacy Policy, it admits to using third party advertising companies to deliver ads to its users:
“We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our Web site. These companies may use aggregated information (not including your name, address, email address or telephone number) about your visits to this and other Web sites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.”
This adware will certainly diminish your browsing experience with the amount of ads it delivers every time you browse the web. Aside from that, it might also cause some problem with your browser’s performance caused by the increased amount of ads that pops up in your browser. In addition, this adware might also change your browser’s settings so it can reinstall itself if you uninstall it. In other words, it can reset itself to revert the changes you’ve made – this is why getting rid of Deskgram Ads is not that easy.
