While most PC users are happy with one or two monitors, few people venture beyond that range. However, for those that do, PC hardware manufacturer PowerColor has created a video card that can support up to six separate screens.
The new PowerColor HD7870 Eyefinity 6 is the world’s first 7870 Radeon video card able to support six separate monitors. And, best of all, it’s not as expensive as you may think. Consumers can expect to pay between $330 to $380 for the new card. Of course, buying 4 or 5 extra monitors may take a bigger chunk out of your wallet.
As for specifications, the video card has a solid 2GB of GDDR5 memory along with an effective 4,800MHz clock speed. At that range, it should be enough to support today’s newest games at massive resolutions, although users may have to dial back on some advanced graphics settings if they want to enjoy smooth performance across their multi-monitor displays.
Whether you want to game on your six screens or just write an awesome college paper, there’s no doubt that having a six screen display would certainly be a talking point for anybody who walks into your computer room. It may not speed up your PC or fix it in any way, but it’s certainly a way to make your PC look as powerful as possible.
