If you are experiencing some issues in your Windows 10 PC and you or Windows itself tries to run the Startup Repair but it fails for some reason and you only get an error message in your screen that states:
Automatic/Startup Repair couldn’t repair your PC. Press “Advanced options” to try other options to repair your PC or “Shut Down” to turn off your PC. Log file: C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
If you are currently facing this problem, continue reading as this post will provide you a couple of suggestions that could be applied to your case and help you fix the problem.
Note: You have to check this log file before you start as it will give you more information about the error:
C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
Option #1- Try to rebuild BCD & Repair MBR
You have to rebuild the Boot Configuration Data file as well as repair the Master Boot Record file. To do so, follow the steps below.

  • Click on the Advanced Options and select Command Prompt.
  • After that, your system will prompt you to enter the password. Once you enter the password, you should find the command prompt on the right side of your screen.
  • Key in the commands listed below one by one and don’t forget to tap Enter right after you type in a command.
  • exe /rebuildbcd
  • exe /fixmbr
  • exe /fixboot

Running these commands will help you fix the Boot Sector problems, check if you can now start the Startup Repair or not.
Option #2 – Perform Chkdsk
One of the best options you must try is running chkdsk as it will check the disk for any errors and repair them automatically. To use it, follow these steps:

  • Open Command Prompt as administrator.
  • Once you’ve opened an elevated Command Prompt, type in the following command and tap Enter to execute it:

chkdsk /f /r E:
Note: “E” is the drive letter of the drive where the folder you are trying to delete is located and where you got the error message. You have to replace “E” with the letter of your drive.

  • After executing the command, the Command Line Check Disk switch /f will try to solve the problems detected while /r will let you identify the bad sector and try to recover information. Shortly after this process, your will restart to complete the task. Note that you should not forcefully shut your computer down and let it do its thing.

Option #3 – Use the DISM tool in Safe Mode

  • Boot your Windows 10 PC in Safe Mode.
  • Open Command Prompt as admin.
  • After that, run the DISM tool by typing the command DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthto repair the System Image.

The command you keyed in will use the Deployment Imaging and Service Management (DISM) tool to scan your PC for possible corruption. Note that the process may take a while before it finishes so do not close the window until it’s done.
Option #4 – Try to disable the Early launch anti-malware protection
When you suddenly get these problems after you installed an anti-malware program, then it could be the one causing all these problems. You have to disable the anti-malware program temporarily. To do so, follow the guide below.

  • Click on the Advanced options.
  • After that, click on Troubleshoot and proceed to the Advanced options and then to the Startup Settings.
  • From the Startup Settings page, click on the Restart button.
  • You should the following once you restart your PC. You have to tap the 8 key on your keyboard so that you can select the “Disable early launch anti-malware protection” setting.

  • After that, your system should restart after a couple of minutes.

Option #5 – Try disabling the automatic Startup Repair
The Automatic Startup Repair window will automatically open during boot when you a have some system driver-related problem. So if you think that this is where the problem lies, you can try to disable the automatic Startup Repair.

  • Click on Troubleshoot and go to the Advanced options.
  • After that, select Command Prompt and execute the following command:

bcdedit /set recoveryenabled NO

  • Restart your computer after that and then check.

Option #6 – Try to restore registry from the RegBack directory
There are times when this problem could be caused by a wrong registry value. So to fix it, you can try restoring the registry. Follow the steps below to do so.

  • Open Command Prompt from the Advanced options.
  • Execute the following command:

copy c:\windows\system32\config\RegBack* c:\windows\system32\config

  • After you execute the command, you will be asked if you want to overwrite all the files or only partially. Type in All and tap the Enter button to proceed.
  • Next, you have to restart your PC and check if the problem’s fixed or not.

Option #7 – Reset This PC
The Reset This PC option in Windows 10 helps users in getting factory settings without having to remove personal files. You can use this option in the Troubleshoot menu and see if it works.
Moreover, there are also other workarounds which are hardware-related that you must try such as:

  • Unplug and reconnect your hard drive
  • Reconnect RAM
  • Unplug all the external devices

For other system-related problems, such as corrupted registries or slow PC performance, you can try a one-click solution known as PC Cleaner Pro. This program is a useful tool that could repair corrupted registries and optimize your PC’s overall performance. Aside from that, it also cleans out your computer for any junk or corrupted files that help you eliminate any unwanted files from your system.
Perform a full system scan using PC Cleaner Pro. To do so, follow the instructions below.

  1. Turn on your computer. If it’s already on, you have to reboot
  2. After that, the BIOS screen will be displayed, but if Windows pops up instead, reboot your computer and try again. Once you’re on the BIOS screen, repeat pressing F8, by doing so the Advanced Option shows up.

  1. To navigate the Advanced Option use the arrow keys and select Safe Mode with Networking then hit
  2. Windows will now load the SafeMode with Networking.
  3. Press and hold both R key and Windows key.

  1. If done correctly, the Windows Run Box will show up.
  2. Type in explorer http://www.fixmypcfree.com/install/pccleanerpro

A single space must be in between explorer and http. Click OK.

  1. A dialog box will be displayed by Internet Explorer. Click Run to begin downloading PC Cleaner Pro. The installation will start automatically once a download is done.

  1. Click OK to launch the program.
  2. Run the program and click the Click to Start Scan button to perform a full system scan.

  1. After all the infections are identified, click FIX ALL.
