Windows 10 is coming out this summer. In preparation for its release, Microsoft has just unveiled its newest operating system’s hardware requirements.
That information was leaked during the recent Windows Hardware Engineering (WinHEC) conference, which took place in Shenzhen, China from March 18 to 19.
At that conference, Microsoft released the technical requirements for mobile devices – which are surprisingly flexible – as well as the hardware requirements for desktop operating systems.
Here’s what you’ll need in order to run Windows 10 on your desktop PC:

There’s nothing really unusual there. The 32 bit version of Windows 10 will require at least 16GB of free storage space, while the 64 bit version requires 20GB. You’ll also need to have a video card that supports DirectX 9 (which should include almost all video cards released in the last 10 years) as well as 1GB or 2GB of RAM (1GB for 32 bit installs, 2GB for 64 bit installs).
Mobile requirements are a bit more specific. Here are the Windows mobile hardware requirements for Windows 10 smartphones:

Surprisingly, Windows 10 will support a mobile screen size as small as 3 inches and as large as 7.99 inches.
Will your PC be able to run Windows 10? Most PCs released over the last decade should easily meet the minimum performance requirements – although some older PCs may only have 512MB of RAM. Other than that, Microsoft appears to be releasing Windows 10 to the widest possible audience.
